The Iraq Leadership Fellows (ILF) program organized a closed online session that brought together the third cohort of the program with Dr. Maria Fantappé, Special Adviser for the Middle East and North Africa at the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue. The session, which was held on January 24, 2020, discussed the nature of relations between Iraq and the European Union, and the role that the political and civil society expects from the latter in light of the escalating regional tensions and the continued excessive violence against protestors since October 2019.
At the conclusion of the session, which was moderated by Ako Saber Kaki from the “Political Candidate” Track of ILF 2019-2020, the Fellows thanked the guest for taking the trouble to present her remarks in Arabic. In her turn, Dr. Fantappie expressed her admiration about the level of awareness the participants showed in the dialogue.
